          Biography of Svetoslav Nikolayevich Roerich

          Early Life and Education

          Svetoslav Nikolayevich Roerich, the son of renowned painter and philosopher Nicholas Roerich and occultist Helena Roerich, was born on November 5, 1904.

          From a young age, he displayed artistic talent in drawing and sculpting. His father encouraged his artistic pursuits and took him on archaeological expeditions.

          In 1916, the family moved to Finland, where 13-year-old Svetoslav painted his first portrait of his father.

          In 1919, he began studying architecture at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. While continuing his painting, he collaborated with his father on opera set designs.
